My research spans conservation psychology, human dimensions of conservation, bird and wetland conservation, and applied approaches to conservation practice. Some of this research has developed directly from conservation projects, where field conditions and available data allowed practical work to be examined more systematically.

My current interests include human–nature relationships, conservation durability, stewardship, behavioural approaches to conservation, and the ways conservation becomes embedded in social and institutional life.
